Interesting Facts:

TaylorMade Golf is a multibillion dollar subsidiary of the Adidas Group, but when Gary Adams started the company in 1979, it was a $24,000 gamble. Gary Adams was an avid golfer and entrepreneur who saw a weakness in the sport. Drivers, the club used to tee off each hole, had been made from wood since the Scots first invented the game in the 15th century. Adams believed he could hit the ball farther with a metal driver. TaylorMade’s corporate history states that in 1979, Adams put his house up as collateral for a $24,000 loan to start TaylorMade. The funds went to lease factory space in McHenry, Ill. to build the first metal driver.
